This year, we need to work together to conserve energy because of a limited availability of natural gas locally. We all understand that natural gas is used to heat our homes and water, cook our food and dry our clothes. But did you know that about 60% percent of the electricity generated in California comes from natural gas? So, a decrease in the availability of natural gas could lead to power outages. Natural gas storage facilities are critically important to maintaining electric system reliability. With the limited availability of natural gas from the Aliso Canyon storage facility, there’s less natural gas locally to produce electricity. The Energy Providers of Southern California have come together to help you conserve both natural gas and electricity and lower the risk of power outages this summer.
